Progress Note Navigation Idea

This is an idea for navigation for historical data
Might be a nice addition to the Progress Notes and H&P's etc.
The physician could just slide the bar across the top with a motion of the pen.
as you hover over one visit it would display high level detail - visit date etc.

Crazy Access Logical Ink

Crazy idea for the Access Logical Ink Product.

What if we took the whole ALI concept and figured out a way to make it work on a device running electronic ink like the Kindle or Sony e-reader? The battery life would be amazing, it would be small and lightweight (like a clipboard), it would be very easy to read and the device would cost much less than a tablet.
If we find and customize a device we could package it all together as a complete solution. We just need to find a device with enough power and capacity.
So, I started some research and found something
While it is not as cheap as a Kindle it does have power and a digitizer to allow for the pen input we need. (about $850)
Also, this company has an SDK to write applications specifically for it.
it is Linux and open source based.

As I research this device I began wondering how we get data on to it - wireless etc.

Came up with another really crazy idea. This device support microSD cards. What if we had a microSD card reader attached to the PC at the Nurses station. The physician or nurse walks up the the station and with a drag and drop moves their entire patient list to the card.
The pull the card and pull a device (any one of many many devices) and run off to do their rounds. At the completion of their rounds they pull the carrd - put the device back in the cradle or on the shelf, slide the card back in the reader and walk away.
The data and completed forms are automatically pushed back up to the HIS and EMR.
